For some reason I don’t really like breakfast at home, but there’s something about going out to brunch that is so satisfying. There was a 15-minute wait for Counter Cafe, a place I had read about in one of my any Austin food sources. The wait was not so glorious in that scorching rising 80s temperature at 11 in the morning. But thank goodness we got a seat inside.
Dana got eggs benedict with pastrami on top. The hollandaise was a bit lemony which was off-putting. Julian got blueberry pancakes. Personally, I don’t really like getting pancakes or waffles from places unless it’s say… Clinton Street Baking Company in NYC. Call me pancake-biased, whatever.

Hmm I had chicken and waffles for the first time at wood + vine in Hollywood the other night and it was AWESOME. perhaps I’ll like this too??
